Introduction

At the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025, Samsung confirmed its plans to expand the Galaxy S flagship lineup with the addition of a brand-new model.

Called the Galaxy S25 Edge (previously referred to Galaxy S25 Slim in rumors), this fourth model reinterprets the definition of the flagship phone by straying from the usual formula and adopting different design principles and core values.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is considerably thinner than other slab-type Samsung smartphones and has a new camera philosophy.

Design

Similar to the rest of the Galaxy S25 series, the new Galaxy S25 Edge model has flat panels and a flat frame with rounded corners. It features the brand new Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 at the front for superior durability and has a titanium frame like the S25 Ultra.

Despite the Edge name heritage, this new S25 variant does not have a curved display that wraps around the frame.

Samsung redefined what Edge means, and instead of associating the well-known brand with a curved display, Samsung is now linking it with the phone's thin profile — and perhaps some of its other cutting-edge characteristics.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is only 5.8mm thick, making it Samsung's slimmest Android phone ever not counting its foldable phones (those can be thinner than 5.8mm when unfolded). It's also a mere 163g in weight. From the front, the Galaxy S25 Edge looks like the other models, complete with a flat 6.7-inch display with an Infinity-O cutout. At the back, the phone has an unusual dual camera setup.

Both cameras and the LED flash sit on an oblong island. A circular ring that protrudes from the island surrounds each camera.

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes in three colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Icyblue. It has IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

Specifications

Galaxy S25 Edge specs are rather cutting edge despite the slim profile. It features the same Snapdragon 8 Elite ‘For Galaxy' chipset like the other Galaxy S25 models. The Snapdragon chip is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

For cooling the Snapdragon chip, Samsung has included a vapor chamber solution that's similar in surface area to the vapor chamber in the Galaxy S25 Ultra but is thinner to fit inside the slim chassis.

As expected, the phone doesn't have a 3.5mm headphone port or expandable storage. It comes equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor of the ultrasonic variety.

The Galaxy S25 Edge has a 3,900mah battery with 25W wired charging capabilities and all-day battery life. It supports Qi2 accessories and chargers like the rest of the Galaxy S25 series and supports 15W traditional wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

When it comes to connectivity, Samsung left no stone unturned. The Galaxy S25 Edge supports Wi-Fi 7, Ultrawideband (UWB), Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, 5G, and GPS, all of which are also supported by the S25+ and S25 Ultra.

Display

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 1-120Hz variable refresh rate. It is rated for 2,600 nits of brightness like the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra and protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is stronger than Gorilla Glass Victus 2 used on the S25 and S25+ but doesn't have Gorilla Glass Armor's anti-reflection coating found on the S25 Ultra.

The panel has a resolution of 3120×1440, same as the Plus and Ultra models.

Camera

The Galaxy S25 Edge is the first flagship Galaxy S phone since 2019's Galaxy S10e that sports a dual rear camera setup. The S25 Edge lacks a zoom/telephoto camera, but Samsung is promising optical-quality 2x zoom via the main rear camera.

That's because the Galaxy S25 Edge's camera specs include a 200MP primary shooter. It uses the same sensor as the Galaxy S25 Ultra but has been reengineered to be 18% thinner overall to fit the phone's petite profile. The 200MP camera supports up to 8K resolution for video recording at 30 fps.

The 200MP wide-angle camera is accompanied by a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus support for macro photography. It can record videos at up to 4K at 30/60 fps. Both rear cameras support 10-bit Super HDR video recording in addition to HDR10+.

At the front sits a 12MP selfie camera which is the same as that found on the other S25 models. This camera also supports 4K@60 fps and 10-bit Super HDR video recording.

The Galaxy S25 Edge can record videos in the log format, which is used by professionals for better control over colors and tone in post-processing.

Software and features

Samsung's new Galaxy S25 Edge ships with the latest version of One UI, One UI 7. The phone benefits from all the One UI and Galaxy AI improvements as the rest of the S25 series, including:

Like other Samsung flagships, the Galaxy S25 Edge will get seven major OS upgrades and seven years of security patches.
