In case you haven't noticed, the new Odyssey OLED G8 (not to be confused with the Odyssey Neo G8) has a curved display with a 1800R curvature. The OLED panel has a 34-inch diagonal and can top a refresh rate of 175Hz.
Samsung's new gaming monitor is based on Quantum Dot Technology and boasts a low response time of 0.1ms. The panel has a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440, and Samsung claims it covers 99.3% of the DCI color gamut. Other specs include AMD FreeSync Premium technology, Micro HDMI (2.1) and Mini DP (1.4) ports, USB-C, and built-in 5W stereo speakers.
The Odyssey OLED G8 has a clever design with a height-adjustable stand (HAS) featuring tilt functionality. And while we're on the topic of design, the new gaming monitor has CoreSync and Core Lighting+, allowing gamers to customize the lighting of the rear “Core” to match their in-game environment.
Gamers can also take full advantage of Gaming Hub, in markets where the cloud-gaming platform is available. Gaming Hub brings together a handful of cloud-based platforms, including Xbox Game Pass, NVIDIA GeForce Now, Utomik, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
As of now, Samsung Gaming Hub is available in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, the UK, and the United States. The availability of each gaming platform varies by country, and Amazon Luna — which is the latest addition to Gaming Hub — is available exclusively in the USA.
The monitor also comes with TV Plus and a remote controller. Samsung says that the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 will be available “globally from Q4 2022,” although availability will differ by region. The company hasn't revealed any pricing details, but we're bound to find out more soon.
