More than four years after launch, the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra continue to get software updates. The Note 20 lineup received its final One UI update back in 2023 and has only been getting security updates since then, and a new one is now available for download.
This update brings the April 2025 security patch to the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra and started rolling out late last month in several regions. It's available across Europe, and over in Asia, it's rolling out in India. Since these are old phones, it may take a few weeks for the update to reach all users around the world.
You can identify the April 2025 security update for the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra by a build number ending in HYD1 or HYD3 depending on where you reside / purchased your phone. You can also download Galaxy Note 20 firmware from the SamMobile database and install it on the phone using a Windows PC and a USB-C cable.
The Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra are on a quarterly security update schedule, so they may get just one more update before Samsung ends support. The two Notes are eligible for five years of updates, and they will reach the end of the support cycle in August this year.
This is a good time to upgrade to a newer device if you wish to enjoy the latest software features and continue getting updates. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is a great option if you want to leave your Note 20 behind, even though it strips the S Pen from its Bluetooth functionality. Hit the link below to upgrade!
